About the police application form
Included on the application form is 4 questions relating to 4 of the competencies which complete the role of a police officer.
Many candidates often get confused at this point of the application form as they have been told that there are 7 competencies but there are only 4 questions on the application form.
This has led to candidates believing that one question covers more than one competency yet this is not the case. The reason for this is explained below.
There are 2 main reasons that only 4 out of the 7 competencies are tested on the application form.
Firstly, it’s because these 4 competencies largely make up the key fundamentals of a police officer and secondly that the police have found that a more lengthy application process results in fewer applicants at this stage.
The police recruitment assessors are looking for certain behaviours in these answers that form the base of the key competencies. If this behaviour is clearly displayed then the candidate is awarded a point, it not then no point is awarded.
